Stockdale v Hansard 
- The defendant, following the publishing of a book, was alleged to have be libellous in doing so
- The defendant claimed that the relevant statute was not valid
- Can a statute passed by only 1 house be valid
- To valid, a statute must be passed by both houses of Parliament and receive royal assent
- This was changed with the Parliament Act 1911
